Bio
While the name PERIPHONIC may be new to the music scene, its members are certainly not. Formed in the summer of 2009, PERIPHONIC was born as an original project aimed at capitalizing on the unique talents of its current membership. Aptly named (‘PERIPHONIC’ means 3D sound), the group features a trio of musicians whose experience and musical ability present listeners with a dynamic and compelling sound that is stylistically diverse and immediately infectious.
The individual musicians of PERIPHONIC each provide a wealth of experience and a background which ultimately lend to their unique sound. Meet the members of PERIPHONIC...
Ryan Plew -- Originally a bassist, he co-founded a successful pop/rock band which performed alongside acts including Creed, Stone Temple Pilots, Kid Rock, and Everclear. As a solo artist, he distinguished himself earning first place in a field of hundreds for "Speak New Words". Since this honor, he has sought to continue to develop his musical voice with the formation of PERIPHONIC.
Steven Williams -- Originally studying percussion, Steve developed his talents in one of the most recognized programs in the nation. Excelling in tonal percussion (vibes, marimba, and xylophone), he consistently distinguished himself at the regional and state level. His focus shifted to bass at the age of 15 where jazz was a primary focus. In recent years, Steve has been at home playing with a variety of stylistically diverse groups.
Jim Bailey -- Has traveled the globe performing and providing clinics for a variety of audiences including the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, Yamaha "Sounds of Summer" camps and Bands of America “Summer "Symposium" to name a few. Jim is a Yamaha Performing Artist and also endorses Sabian Cymbals, Evans Heads, and Innovative Percussion Sticks.
