Bio

The Canal is a band consisting of brothers Evan and Blake McCamey (Evan on lead vox/guitar/keys and Blake on lead guitar/backup vox), Shy Holder (rap vox), Cavan McGinsie (bass), Brad Johnston (drums), Jonny Dyer (guitar) and Sina Akande (cello). The band gets it's name from one of the most distinct places in the city of Indianapolis. The Canal is where many local couples go to walk and hold hands, it's a beautiful and sexy place just like the music of this band. The band came together when music enthusiasts/best friends Blake and Shy decided they wanted to start a band with a different sound; a fusion of rap and alternative rock. The Canal is what you might hear if Kanye West, Kid Cudi or Lupe Fiasco decided to link up with Coldplay or The Fray to make an album. After the edition of Evan and Cavan (who contribute to a healthy lump of the songwriting) the band then added Brad, Jonny and finally Sina. A few country boys from New Palestine along with some city flavor makes this band something interesting, the music the make is a genre you can't quite put your finger on but your ears like it.
